How to Create a New Site in SGEN

This procedure provisions a new SGEN site from SG-Dashboard. The site is created against an active subscription and returns you to Site Manager with the next setup actions available.

Before you start

Make sure all of the following are true before you begin:

You can log in to SG-Dashboard.
The account has an active subscription.
The account has available site capacity.
You have the final production domain ready.
You have the business name ready.
Important: The Domain field is for the final production domain. Business Name is required during initial setup. If the account has no active subscription or no remaining site capacity, site creation will not complete until capacity is added.

Where to go

You can start site creation from either route below. Both are valid.

Route 1
Dashboard → Quick Actions

Log in to SG-Dashboard, open Dashboard, then click Create New Site in Quick Actions.

Route 2
Site Manager → + Add Site

Log in to SG-Dashboard, open Site Manager, then click + Add Site.

Steps

Follow the create-site flow in this order.

1
Start the flow

Use Dashboard → Quick Actions → Create New Site or Site Manager → + Add Site.

2
Open the create-site modal

If SGEN has already confirmed available site capacity, the create-site modal opens directly.

3
Enter Domain and Business Name

Enter the Domain and Business Name. The domain should be the real production domain you intend to use.

4
Create the site

Review both fields carefully, click Create Site, and wait for SGEN to complete provisioning.

Success Message
Provisioning completes

On success, SGEN shows the message Tenant created successfully for site (domain).

After Redirect
Return to Site Manager

After the success message, SGEN redirects you back to Site Manager so you can continue setup on the new site card.

What success looks like

A successful site creation has all of the following outcomes:

You see the success message Tenant created successfully for site (domain).
You are returned to Site Manager.
The new site card is visible.
Staging and live are provisioned for that site.
Setup actions for the site are available on the card or in related site controls.

What to do if it does not work

Use the correct response for the state you are in.

You are prompted to add a subscription instead of creating the site

The account does not have an active subscription or does not have remaining site capacity. Add a subscription or add site capacity first.

You see Site provisioning failed

Review the domain entry, check whether the domain is invalid or already exists, and retry once with the correct domain. If the same failure persists, contact support.

The site was created, but live is not ready

This is not the same as a failed creation. Continue setup in staging, complete the domain step, and wait for DNS propagation and certificate provisioning to finish.

Next step

Move directly to How to Complete Site Setup in SGEN so the site is not left half-configured.
