The Reference Layer Is Now in Place
SGEN's documentation now has a dedicated reference layer — a structured section for field definitions, settings records, and exact technical documentation that does not belong inside a guide. It ships as a scoped component of the docs platform, separate from tutorials and update surfaces, and ready to grow as the platform grows.
What the reference layer is
In a plugin tower, field-by-field reference lives wherever each plugin author chose to publish it — usually a black box of stale tooltips. SGEN's reference layer ships as a scoped component of the docs platform, audit-ready and structured. It gives the documentation system a place to record fields, settings, records, objects, and other exact definitions without turning every page into a long-form guide.
Plugin-era docs scatter exact definitions across tooltips, plugin-author sites, and community threads — no single place owns them, and none of them age well.
Reference is a first-class section of the SGEN docs platform. Fields, settings, and records are documented here — structured, versioned, and distinct from the guide and update layers.
Where it fits in the docs platform
SGEN's documentation is organized into distinct layers. Each layer has a clear job so content does not pile up in the wrong place.
Step-by-step instructions for getting something done — how to create a site, configure a feature, or complete a workflow.
Exact definitions — fields, settings, records, objects, and structured data. The answer to "what does this field do?" not "how do I set it up?"
Feature launches and platform updates — what changed, when it shipped, and what it means for your site.
A structured record of every version, fix, and improvement — audit trail for teams that need to track platform changes over time.
What this means going forward
For the launch version, the important point is that this layer exists and gives the documentation system room to grow in a more organized way. As SGEN adds and documents settings, objects, and structured configurations, each one has a home in the reference layer rather than being appended to a guide.
No setup is required. The reference layer is available now at docs.sgen.com. Any SGEN account — including Your Store and other active sites — can browse the reference section without signing in.
