Use this page as a directory of SGEN quick tasks, not a tutorial. The fastest way through it: use your browser's find (Ctrl+F or Cmd+F) to search for a word like form, domain, or blog, or skim the seven section headings below and jump to the one that fits. Every link opens the full step-by-step guide for that task — you do not need to read this page top to bottom.
Brand-new to SGEN? If you have never built a site before, start with Building your first website ever first, then come back here once you know your way around. Worried about early missteps? Skim Common mistakes to avoid.
A good rule of thumb: build and preview everything privately in your Sandbox, and only reach for the Domain and going live section when you are ready for visitors. Most tasks below work the same whether you are in the Sandbox or live — going live is its own deliberate step.
Build and design
The core of any site — its pages and how they look. Start with a page, then layer on a theme, brand kit, and navigation.
- Build a page → Build your first page with SG-Builder
- Build a landing page → Build a landing page in SG-Builder
- Customize your theme → Theme customization in SGEN
- Set up your brand kit → Set up your brand kit — colors, fonts, logo
- Set up site navigation → Menus — site navigation
Content
Everything that changes over time — posts, images, and scheduling. Pages are for evergreen content; the blog is for dated, feed-based content.
- Publish a blog post → Publish your first blog post on SGEN
- Build a blog index → Build a blog index in SGEN
- Add and organize media → Media Library
- Schedule a post or page → Schedule publishing for posts and pages
SEO and analytics
How people find your site, and how you see who arrives. Set page titles and descriptions so search results read well, then connect analytics to measure traffic.
- Optimize a page for SEO → Optimize your site for SEO
- Set your SEO defaults → Set up your SEO defaults on SGEN
- Connect Google Analytics → Connect Google Analytics to your site
Forms and leads
How visitors reach you. Build the form, then wire notifications so every submission reaches your inbox — the step that is easiest to forget.
- Build a contact form → How to build a contact form in SGEN
- Get notified of submissions → Set up form notifications
- Route submissions onward → Route form submissions to email, webhook, or CRM
Domain and going live
The step that makes your work public. Connect a domain, promote your Sandbox to live, and add redirects so old links keep working after a move.
- Connect your domain → Connect your domain to SGEN
- Promote sandbox to live → Stage and live: move site changes from preparation to public
- Run the launch sequence → Go live: publish your first site
- Add a redirect → Manage redirects on your site
Selling online
Turn your site into a store. Set up products and build the pages that show and sell them.
- Launch a store → Launch your first store on SGEN
- Build an ecommerce page → Build an e-commerce page layout in SGEN
Team and account
Who can work on your site, and how the account is managed. Invite people, set what each can do with roles, and keep your plan and backups in order.
- Invite a team member → Invite your first team member
- Manage team roles → Manage team roles across SGEN sites
- Choose or change your plan → Choose your SGEN plan
- Back up and restore your site → Back up and restore your site
