How to Access Staging and Live in SGEN

This procedure shows how to open the staging and live environments for a site from Site Manager, and when each action should be used.

Before you start

You need:

Access to SG-Dashboard.
A site already visible in Site Manager.
Remember: staging and live are created automatically when the site is provisioned. Staging is available for immediate work. Live depends on DNS propagation and certificate provisioning.

Where to go

Start from Site Manager:

Step 1
Log in to SG-Dashboard

Use your normal SG-Dashboard access.

Step 2
Open Site Manager

Go to the area where your site cards are listed and managed.

Step 3
Find the correct site card

Locate the site card for the domain you want to open.

Steps

Use the site-card actions in the correct context.

1
Open staging in a new tab

Use View Staging Site when you want to inspect the staging build in a new tab.

2
Open staging already logged in

Use Login to Stage when you want the staging environment opened already logged into SG-Admin.

3
Open live only when ready

Use Visit Live Site or Login to Live only when the live environment is expected to be ready.

Save or bookmark the staging and live URLs once you confirm they are the correct destinations. That avoids unnecessary hunting through Site Manager every time.

How to choose the right action

Choose actions deliberately:

View Staging Site

Choose this when you only need to inspect the staging build.

Login to Stage

Choose this when you need to work immediately inside the staging admin.

Visit Live Site

Choose this when you want to test the public production site.

Login to Live

Choose this when live is available and you need to enter that environment in a new tab.

What success looks like

You should be able to:

Open the staging build in a new tab.
Enter the staging environment already logged in through Login to Stage.
Open live in a new tab once DNS and certificate conditions are complete.

What to do if it does not work

Use the correct response for the state you are in.

Staging opens, but live does not

That usually means DNS propagation or certificate provisioning is still in progress. Keep working in staging.

Live opens to a maintenance or unavailable state

Check domain readiness first, then check billing state.

You only need reliable access now

Use staging until live is fully ready.
